Archivist Safety Matches: Mount Fuji

There’s a graphic clarity to this square matchbox that leans into bold contrast without feeling loud. The Mount Fuji illustration is rendered in deep blues and sharp orange, giving it a slightly poster-like quality—clean lines, strong colour, and just enough retro influence to feel timeless rather than themed. The “Mount Fuji, Monumental Matches” lettering adds a playful edge, grounding the design in something a little more irreverent.

Inside, 125 matchsticks keep the piece rooted in purpose. It’s designed to be used and left out—on a coffee table, along a mantel, or tucked into a gift drawer—where the artwork becomes part of the environment. A small object, but one that carries both function and a distinct visual presence.
